Our History

Age Nigeria was founded out of necessity, it came to being due to poor living condition of older persons in Nigeria. They gave their best when they served the country but most elders now live in abject poverty, abandoned by children and family, neglected by society in older age.

FOUNDER

Mrs  Oluwayemisi Oluwole is the founder and President of Age Nigeria. She was born into a pastoral family of Rev and Rev Mrs CA Keshiro. They were both General Oveersers of Divine Tabernacle Gospel Church headquartered in Olodi Apapa Lagos. Her parents dedicated their lifetime to winning souls to Christ and caring for needy people. They supported their church members in need with food, clothings and housing, apart from their spiritual growth, her parents were humanitarians with deep compassion to help the needy including older persons. Mrs Oluwole was inspired by her late parents. Her encounter with older people struggling to benefit  from Lagos State free eye surgery where most of them were denied, due to their children neglect moved her to dedicate her life to the care of older persons in Nigeria.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

In 2009, the President mother who was in her late sixty then, requested for the help of her daughter to accompany her to the hospital, Gbagada General Hospital, Lagos for her eyes check up. According to her, she had no incling that that call for help by her mother will eventually reshape her destiny as it turns out to be a call for our amazing President to serve humanity especially the neglected older persons in Nigeria. Her mother Rev. Keshinro was a thoroughbred, principled, meticulous and a visioned. Inspite of the fact that she had her aids as General Overseer of her church but chose upon her daughter to accompany her for the eye treatment .

She knew how very important her mothers call mean to her, she was with her mother in no time. She said  this about the all important visit. ‘ Her calls were precious to me.Iya ni Iya mi, abiyamo tooto’ .My mum was a caring and faithful mother.
